What away for the Golden State Warriors to continue a 30 game losing streak in San Antonio. There are zero excuse for the team as it built a large lead and were not able to close out the win.

The game started well for the Warriors as Andrew Bogut going offensively and on the defensive end he forced the San Antonio Spurs into difficult shots and rebounded the basketball. Klay Thompson also got going scoring the basketball and did get into foul trouble before finding himself in foul trouble towards the end of the second quarter.

For the Spurs Manu Ginobili played an important role as facilitator and scorer, which helped get Tim Duncan and Tony Parker going and at the half the Warriors led by four.

In the early stages of the third quarter the lead go to one after back-to-back turnovers by the Warriors. Curry who had started off slowly shooting the basketball got hot scoring 22 in the quarter alone, if he didn’t have the ball Thompson or Harrison Barnes took advantage of a mismatch with Parker defending him, out-hustled the Spurs and the lead ballooned to 18.

Mistakes at the end of the quarter and the fourth San Antonio was able to get back to a manageable deficit. Like before didn’t get closer than that as Curry made a layup, Jarrett Jack made two free throws and Carl Landry hit a jumper.

There wasn’t any quit as again the Spurs took advantage of mistakes by the Warriors. With the defense respectingthe shooting of Curry, he chose to drive to the basket instead getting to the rim with relative ease and forced a timeout and like game six against the Denver Nuggets the big lead disappeared and all blame goes squarely on Mark Jackson.

Fortunately Jack hit a jumper to at least force the Spurs to shoot a three and off a beautiful out-of-bounds play, Danny Green buried a three to tie the game resulting in overtime.

After Golden State built a five point lead, San Antonio came back with seven unanswered before Curry came up with a steal and made a difficult layup to tie the game up over Green. Kawhi Leonard took advantage of a mismatch in the post and scored, before Jack made a difficult layup with 20.3 seconds left.

Ginobili got a chance to win the game with 5.8 seconds left in the first overtime and missed. The second overtime was just as exciting with the Spurs gaining a five point advantage and coming back with six straight points the Warriors, with rookie Kent Bazemore making a clutch layup, before Ginobili redeemed himself after a terrible shot selection on the previous possession, nailing a wide open three.

Curry led the way for Golden State with 44 points, 11 assists, Barnes added 19 points and 12 rebounds and Thompson finished with 19 points before fouling out. For San Antonio, Parker led the way with 28 points, 8 assists and 8 rebounds, Duncan added 19 points and 11 rebounds and Leonard had 18 points and nine rebounds.
