OAKLAND – Days after taking a flying knee to the side of the head in Game 5 of the Western Conference Finals, Golden State Warriors shooting guard Klay Thompson has officially been diagnosed with a concussion.

Thompson, the other half of the regular-season best Golden State Warriors vaunted backcourt known as “The Splash Brothers”, suffered an ear laceration and left the Warrior’s series-clinching 104-90 win over the Rockets, after taking a knee to the head from Rockets swingman Trevor Ariza.

In a statement by his father, Mychal, Thompson vomited repeatedly after sustaining the injury.

Due to NBA concussion protocol guidelines, Thompson will not return to the court until he is symptom free.

Clearly a big loss to the Warriors, Thompson, a first-time All-Star averaged 21.7 points, while shooting 43.9 percent from three-point range in the regular season and 19.7 points per game in 15 post-season contests and shot 42.5 percent from beyond the arc.
