This article about the LBs and the other one about the DL are pretty much interchangeable. Why? Because both include front seven players, they guys that impact the game the most in today’s game. This year, it’s slightly different because most of the top “Edge” rushers are listed as DL, but that doesn’t mean we won’t be talking about some seriously talented players below. That talented group includes someone who I consider a top three pick in the draft, Josh Allen.

Kentucky isn’t known as the hotbed of NFL prospects. However, Josh Allen is here to put them on the map. Allen is an elite talent and someone who I would bet doesn’t fall below 3rd in the draft. He can line up at OLB as well as on the line as a DE. He’s strong, fast, and athletic. There is an argument that can be made that he could be the best player in the entire draft. He had no issues with his measurements and all lights are go for this young man to light up the on-field drills on Sunday.

I also wanted to specifically single out another great athletic at the LB positions, Devin White of LSU. White is a converted RB from High School and uses that ability to see through the small holes to get to the ball carrier. He would fit best as an ILB in a 3-4 so he can use his speed and run sideline to sideline. He should be a starter in the NFL from day one and his work ethic and competitiveness should push him in that direction. He should hear his named called within the 1st half of the 1st round.

Two other LBs I wanted to mention before you get to the measurements below are Devin Bush of Michigan and Mack Wilson of Alabama. Bush is a player who has all the attributes you look for, but he’s small for his position. You typically want your LB 6’1 or over, as you can see below, Bush is below that mark at 5’11, but his speed, skill, and instincts should get him drafted by round two. Wilson checks all the marks, but does nothing to stand out. Not one thing you can say he’s superior at.

Overall, Allen is the stud of this group and White is an immediate starter and potential star. But overall, there are a lot of solid LBs to go around including other names like D’andre Walker of Georgia, Christian Miller of Alabama, Vosean Joseph of Florida, and Te’von Coney of Notre Dame. All of these players could have a good impact to a team and eventually become a starter. As with most players at the combine, they just need coaching, development, and a chance.

Below are the Linebacker measurements from the 2019 NFL Combine.
