The San Francisco 49ers took a risk in drafting Reuben Foster. Trading to take him with the 31st pick of the draft 2017.

It appeared the move by general manager John Lynch looked good. As Foster quickly made a name for himself and soon his behavior at the NFL combined got overlooked or excused. He ended the season with 72 tackles and a pass defended in 10 games played.

There were high hopes in 2018 of Foster turning into an elite linebacker, yet that didn’t happen. He got suspended for two games to start the season due to two arrests one for marijuana possession and another for a weapons charge. Which was also part of a domestic violence accusation that got recanted.

Once he learned of the discipline from the NFL, Foster said “I accept the League’s decision and am sorry that my mistakes have hurt my team. I have a responsibility to the 49ers, our fans and our community, and I am committed to learning from this situation and making better choices in the future. The support I have received over the last five months has been humbling, and I do not take it for granted.”

It appears that Foster did not learn from that experience. As reports indicate that the 49ers’ linebacker got arrested for domestic violence in Florida.

At the moment Lynch now needs to decide on whether to let the league investigate the newest allegation to simply admit the mistake of drafting Foster and release him. Head coach Kyle Shanahan has already stated that he has a “zero-tolerance domestic violence policy.”

Meaning that it’s more than likely that Foster will no longer be a 49er. It has been announced by the organization that he has been released.  Here’s a look at the reactions to the arrest on social media.
