Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers appeared to be serious contenders in the NFC this season, especially after their clutch victory over the Dallas Cowboys last week. Unfortunately, his season could be over following a broken collarbone against the Minnesota Vikings this week.

Green Bay posted on their Twitter account to confirm that Rodgers had indeed broken his collarbone and could miss the remainder of the season.

Needless to say, this news has thrown the future of the Packers’ 2017 season into doubt. They still have some talent, but Rodgers was the reason for their win last week and there are too many holes in the roster to seriously contend for a championship without their franchise quarterback.

Rodgers’ season will end after a hot start to the year. He had completed 66.7 percent of his passes for 1,367 yards, 13 touchdowns, and three interceptions throughout the first five games of the season.

Backup quarterback Brett Hundley will now step into the starting quarterback role in Green Bay. He had a rough day in relief of Rodgers following the injury, completing 18 of his 33 pass attempts for 157 yards, one touchdown, and three interceptions. There is no denying Hundley’s potential, but he has not been game tested and his first serious action was awful.

Green Bay is not going to be able to survive life without Rodgers. They are not going to lose the rest of their games, but unless Rodgers is able to make a miraculous return, it is unlikely that the Packers will end up making the playoffs when everything is said and done.

Expect to see Hundley struggle throughout the remainder of the season. He may have a couple good games, but he was not ready to be thrown into action due to this kind of situation.

Rodgers is the best quarterback in the game and his absence will prove that once again.

Do you think the Green Bay Packers can continue winning without Aaron Rodgers? What are you expecting from Brett Hundley moving forward? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below!
