Browns 29 Titans 28– The Browns (2-2) looked like the most disorganized, dysfunctional team in the first half in Nashville. The Titans (1-4) scored 28 points in the first and lead by as many as 25 points. The Browns scored a late touchdown before the end of the half to make the halftime score 28-10.
The late touchdown seemed to provide little comfort to Browns fans but the team must have felt a different emotion. The Browns fought with sheer will and determination. They made sure that the day belonged to them. The comeback started with a field goal to make it 28-13. Then, the Browns blocked a punt and made a tackle in the end zone for a safety that made the score 28-15.
The Browns started giving fans a reason to believe that the game was not over by a long shot. A dramatic finish was brewing right then. The Browns eventually scored another touchdown, making the score 28-22. Quarterback Brian Hoyer delivered the final blow as he threw a desperation pass under pressure to Travis Benjamin in the end zone.
With the extra point by Billy Cundiff, the Browns took a 29-28 lead. The Titans had little time remaining and were not able to drive down the field far enough for a field goal.
Hoyer threw for 292 yards and three touchdowns despite going against the previously 10th ranked pass defense. Ben Tate was a stat machine as he rushed for 123 yards. Ben Tate lead the running attack with a phenomenal total of 123 yards.
The 25 point comeback is the largest comeback on the road in the NFL history.
Patriots 43 Bengals 17– Ugly primetime performances are becoming the norm for this season. This has normally been the case for Thursday Night games but last night, the Patriots made a statement. They were regarded as a team of underachievers that weren’t the perennial playoff threat that fans in general are used to seeing.
New England (3-2) took advantage of the best opportunity they’d ever get to change that perception as they defeated the previously undefeated Cincinnati Bengals (3-1) on NBC 43-17.
Andy Dalton threw for two touchdowns for the first time this year. However, he had a night to forget as he threw for a lackluster 204 yards.
Tom Brady was a true inspiration to a once deflated Patriots team. He passed for 294 yards and two touchdowns.
Steelers 17-Jaguars 9– The Jaguars (0-5) found out what the old Steel Curtain was like. The Steelers (3-2) defense came up with several big plays including a 22 yard interception return for a touchdown by Brice McCain.
Ben Roethlisberger dominated the Jaguars defense as he passed for 273 yards and one. In terms of scoring, this wasn’t the expected performance for the Steelers offense but it’s passible and they won.
The Jaguars downhill season continues as they are now 0-5. They have a golden chance for redemption against the 1-4 Titans. Tennessee is on a 3 game losing streak.
Colts 20 Ravens 13– The Ravens (3-2) didn’t start out hot out of the gates. The defense was solid in the first half limiting Andrew Luck and the Colts (3-2) offense to just 6 points. However, Joe Flacco and the Ravens offense failed to take advantage of the stellar defensive effort. Flacco was limited to 235 passing yards and no touchdowns. He threw an interception to Vontae Davis which was returned for a touchdown.
The Colts pulled away in the second with two touchdowns. Ravens running back Justin Forsett scored a touchdown with 7:16 left in the game.
