Oklahoma City Thunder: 5 players that could help Russell Westbrook

The Oklahoma City Thunder were bounced from the playoffs thanks to James Harden and the Houston Rockets. While Russell Westbrook will probably go on to with the NBA MVP Award, an extended stay in the playoffs would be better. However, with Russ saying he wants to stay in OKC– is the current roster enough to get him over the hump?

Here are 5 players that could help Westbrook and the Thunder next season.

Carmelo Anthony

Anthony is no Kevin Durant but he wants and needs to win. The New York Knicks no longer have use for him and if Anthony is willing to waive his NTC then why not OKC? Anthony has never played with a talent like Westbrook and giving a great chance to prove himself worthy of being with a contender, we may see a different side of the former All-Star. Carmelo, despite the constant trade rumors and in-house dysfunction still managed to post averages of 22 points and 6 rebounds this season. If the Thunder can somehow swing a trade for him for the like of Andre Robertson and Enes Kanter, Russell Westbrook will have another offensive threat by his side.

Paul George

Much like Anthony, his time with his current team is over. The Indiana Pacers dangled George out in the open during the deadline but his asking prices was too high. After another disappointing season and playoffs, Larry Bird may be eager to start a rebuild. George will be a great fit for the Thunder with his ability to play both ends of the floor. George and Westbrook on the floor together will give the Thunder one of the best one-two punches in the NBA. The Thunder will have to let go of a draft pick and possible Victor Oladipo and possibly Robertson but the end results will be well worth it.

Blake Griffin

No trade needed here as Griffin will be a Free Agent but his services won’t be cheap. Pairing Westbrook with Griffin would make the Thunder instant contenders in the West. No, it’s not the same as he has in Los Angeles as the Thunder has a more talented roster. If The Thunder can keep Oladipo, Kanter, Adams and Robertson to pair with Griffin, a #2 seed is not out of the question.

Chris Paul

Don’t trip. Think about Paul at the point, Westbrook at SG and Oladipo at SF. Westbrook already plays like a SG and think how dangerous he could be playing off the ball. Paul is a distributor, one of the best in the league and he and Westbrook on a break would give any team nightmares. Will they be able to coexist? Yes. Paul could be facing another playoff meltdown and his ability to lead may be in question as soon as the Clippers are eliminated. They will not be the biggest backcourt in the NBA but they will become the most dangerous.

Kevin Durant

Never say that someone can’t come back home. LeBron James proved that to be true and Durant could be the next in line. Nevermind the media making a big deal of the Westbrook and Durant relationship, what matters is winning. If the Golden State Warriors do not win a title then what’s next for the free agent to be Durant? The Warriors will be cash strapped as retaining Stephen Curry may cost them up to $34M pr year. Durant could earn the same if he decides to opt-out and the Warriors cannot afford both while still needing to sign role players. A return home would please everyone and with Oladipo now in tow, the Thunder will have the offense they been missing since the departure of James Harden.

Portland Trail Blazers: Nerlens Noel should be top target this offseason

The Portland Trail Blazers, in all honesty, should be ashamed in how their season went. And not just by being swept by the Golden State Warriors but the entire season in general. Last season was a coming out party and this year was supposed to be their breakthrough. However, from the beginning, it all took a turn for the wrong.

To begin, the Blazers shelled out entirely too much cash for Evan Turner, Meyers Leonard, and Allen Crabbe. Those three players alone will cost the Blazers $46M per year. That’s a lot of money for reserves. But, the drama didn’t end there. Their big defensive difference maker, Festus Ezeli never suited up for the Blazers which put their defensive scheme on hold. Ed Davis was injured and the Blazers were forced to rely on the offensive firepower of Damian Lillard and C.J. McCollum.

While Lillard and McCollum scored at will, the paint was left wide open on the defensive end. The Blazers struggled and at one point it looked as if they would miss the playoffs until the front office smartened up. During the Trade Deadline, the Blazers and Denver Nuggets struck a deal that would send scoring big man, Mason Plumlee to the Nuggets for defense player Jusuf Nurkic.

Once Nurkic took the court, the Blazers playoff chances became a reality.

But then tragedy struck the team yet again as Nurkic went down with an injury right before the playoffs. Talk about bad luck. Maybe he would have made a difference against the Warriors maybe not but moving forward, the Blazers must get stronger upfront or they could suffer the same fate next season. The talent is there, especially on the offensive side but where is the post defense?

Nurkic was a great addition, however, the Blazers made one mistake. They should have gone after Nerlens Noel when the Philadelphia 76ers had him on the open market.

He was traded to the Dallas Mavericks but he will be a free agent again this offseason and the Blazers would be wise to sign him up. Noel is the missing piece to the Blazers woes. Last season, in 51 games for the Mavericks, 76ers he averaged 9 points, 6 rebounds and 1 block in 22 minutes per. If the Blazers can pair him in the frontcourt with Nurkic and offer him 30 minutes, his number will easily increase to a double-double.

There will be no offensive plays that will need to be run through him which leaves Noel to do what he does best and what the Blazers need most. Someone to defend the post.

Noel won’t be cheap but if the Blazers can move either Crabbe, Leonard or possibly Harkless or Aminu then this could work. The team is right on the cusp despite their showing against the Warriors. The Blazers made a mistake and let Noel slip through their fingers. They would be wise to not let that happen again.

Pretty Little Liars: Spencer Hastings needs to stop the spoiled B*%#@ act and focus

For the past 7 seasons of Pretty Little Liars, we’ve noticed the change in the girls. Some have been for the best, while other have gone a bit off the deep end. As the show winds down we finally may be witnessing the emotional breakdown of Spencer Hastings. It should be no surprise as she has been the rock that has held the girls together through their tough times. However, everyone has their breaking point.

With the news that Mary Drake is indeed her birth mother, my heart did go out to Spencer. However, she’s treating her mother, Veronica as if she’s the one that went out and had the affair.

I get it Spencer, you’re mad but taking your anger out on Veronica is not helping. It’s no secret that the girls in Rosewood live a pretty privileged life. Big houses, two parent homes, cars while in high school and the freedom to do whatever they please when they see fit. So yes, we should expect them to be a bit spoiled. However, their lives are also filled with murder, mystery, and lies.

What Spencer is going through is rough but she’s acting like a 3-year old who just got beat for eating glue instead of a grown woman fighting for her life. Ok, Mary is her mother and Veronica isn’t but how does that take away everything Veronica did for her since she was a baby? How many people will accept the offspring of their husband’s lust and go along as if she gave birth?

Veronica is a noble woman despite my theory that she may be A.D.

Her husband cheated on her twice which resulted in not one but two kids from other women and yet, she still stayed in his corner. That’s a strong woman who any of the girls should look up to, especially Spencer. While Spencer is dealing with her own relationship issues as she lost Toby to Yvonne, Caleb to Hanna and had a few quickies with Detective Marko and Wren. It’s clear Spencer needs to take some advice from Veronica.

But even with the news that her mother is not actually her birth mother– should Spencer be forgiven for acting the way she is now towards Veronica? She has stated that her father is avoiding her but guess what Spencer– Veronica is not. She’s there in your face, told you the truth and still loves you. But, you can’t see through the hurt and by doing so, you just started a game with A.D. that may have you and your friends end up dead.

It’s time Spencer fully accepted the truth, grow up and focus on the bigger picture like who’s trying to kill her and her friends. Spencer’s mommy issues will work themselves out.
