A Few Packers to Look At

Micah Hyde (S/CB) – Green Bay Packers

A safety/ nickel corner hybrid, Micah Hyde is a very intriguing option. He could be a pretty solid starter at the other safety spot if Ladarius Webb is cut or be a nickel cornerback in certain situations. Hyde would be a cheaper option to solve at safety but I would only see this move made if Webb is cut as a cap casualty.

Sam Shields (CB) – Green Bay Packers

While he was one of better cornerbacks in the league a few seasons ago, concussions and injuries have derailed his career since. As an older cornerback cut in the start of the offseason, Sam Shields would be an option that would be a risk due to injury history but if he is healthy for 2017, I can see him being a decent starter for a year or two. Maybe if the Baltimore Ravens want to gamble on cornerback they could go with him but I might consider only for depth, not as a starter due to the risk factor with Shields.

T.J. Lang (OG) – Green Bay Packers

An offensive line adding T.J. Lang would be an improvement for many teams as he is a solid starter and can help protect the quarterback. Having Marshal Yanda and Lang would protect Joe Flacco from an interior pass rush, would be a significant upgrade to the other guard position, and would be a key element in upgrading the run game in 2017. Two veteran guards would be great to have but if Lang leaves the Packers for free agency, many teams may pay him more money then the Ravens would. So unless cap casualties are cut, I do not see a big move like this happening.
