Giving Flacco a Possession Receiver

Alshon Jeffery (WR) – Chicago Bears

Getting a big time receiver like Alshon Jeffery would be a splash in free agency. Whether the Baltimore Ravens would have the money to do it has yet to be determined but a young combo with him and Breshad Perriman would be a dangerous duo. He can be the franchise number one receiver that Joe Flacco can rely on. Injuries are a concern with him but I would still take the chance. Since he is notably the top free agent receiver, Jeffery is most likely looking for top receiver money. So unless the Ravens make major cuts on cap casualties, I do not see this move happening but one can dream. If Jeffery goes for the team instead of the money, Baltimore can be seen as an ideal spot and the Ravens could make it back to the playoffs in 2017.

Pierre Garcon (WR) – Washington Redskins

An ideal spot for a veteran receiver like Pierre Garcon, the Ravens would be the perfect fit for him as he can be a reliable target for Joe Flacco. He would be the possession receiver among the receiving corp in Baltimore. Out of all the players, I listed as possible signings for the Ravens, I think this is the most likely because he would not be too expensive since he is an older player. Garcon would provide a veteran presence that the Ravens are used to with players they have had in the past. This does depend on if the Redskins resign him but he did hint that he might be hitting free agency recently.

Victor Cruz (WR) – New York Giants

Victor Cruz heading to Baltimore could be seen as a prototypical signing for the Ravens but I do not think it would be worth it. The Ravens are looking for an outside receiver and Cruz is limited to the slot and would be a gamble due to his injury history. If it was a one-year deal, I can see a signing like this happening but I think the money should be allotted to another player or position worth the risk. Although Cruz fits the bill as the veteran receiver the Ravens need but I do not think it is worth picking him up.

Kenny Britt (WR) – Los Angeles Rams

Kenny Britt could be a cheap possession receiver if the Ravens want to go that route. Britt had a breakout year in his career and had over 1,000 yards in 2016 with the Rams. Britt would be a decent starter and is not the oldest veteran out of these free agent receivers. A signing like this would be pretty favorable for the Ravens.

Vincent Jackson (WR) – Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Baltimore Ravens need to get a big target on offense for Joe Flacco to throw, Vincent Jackson could be the guy the Ravens can target in free agency. Whether he can still run after his season ending injury in 2016 is still yet to be determined. But a veteran receiver that can provide as a big target to throw to could be valued by the Ravens tremendously. There’s a good chance he enters free agency as the Buccaneers are looking for a number two receiver to replace him essentially. I could see them kicking the tires on an older veteran receiver as a red zone threat for a year for cheap if he is fully healthy.
