PITTSBURGH – With media reports emerging of two-time Super Bowl champion quarterback Ben Roethlisberger asking for a trade out of Pittsburgh, there may be one team that will be a possible landing spot.

Roethlisberger, who is rumored to be unhappy with the more conservative play-calling of Todd Haley, losses of Mike Wallace to free agency and playing behind an offensive line that has enabled him to be sacked 31 times—second most in the NFL—is seeking to explore trade options out of the Steel City.

If a trade were to indeed materialize, a reunion with former offensive coordinator—and current coach of the Arizona Cardinals, Bruce Arians would be a match made in heaven.

Arians, the 2012 AP Coach of The Year in Indianapolis, was Big Ben’s offensive coordinator from 2007-2011 in Pittsburgh and under his tutelage, Roethlisberger had two of his best years in passing for 4,328 yards in 2009, 4,007 yards in 2011, passing touchdowns 32 in 2007, 26 in 2009.

Roethlisberger also had career-highs in passer rating under Arians of 104.1 in 2007, 100.5 in 2009 and completion percentage, 66.6 percent in 2009 and 65.3 percent in 2007.

Based on those numbers, Big Ben to Arizona is a win-win and a no-brainer for Roethlisberger and the Steelers, as Arizona has become a frequent off-season spot for ex-Steelers with Bryant McFadden and Rashard Mendenhall going there via free agency in recent years.

Roethlisberger re-united in the desert under his favorite offensive coordinator in Arians and the prospect of throwing to a All-Pro in Larry Fitzgerald, vaults Arizona to the top candidate in hopes of landing the future Hall-of-Famer.
