The Dallas Cowboys and the San Francisco 49ers attempted to put on an old school classic NFC rivalry reminiscent of the 1990’s but each team took turns during different halves. The 49ers came out blazing to a 14 point lead until the Cowboys rookies, Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott decided they needed to channel their inner, Troy Aikman and Emmitt Smith.
The new breed of future Cowboys stars put the team on their backs and carried them to a 24-17 come from behind victory over the 49ers and put any rumors to rest that the past is the past and it’s time for Jerry Jones to admit who this team belongs to. Prescott, after throwing for no touchdowns in his first two starts now has thrown three in his last two games.

If there was any doubt about the reason the Cowboys took Elliott with the 4th pick in the 2016 Draft, those should be put to rest now. For the second straight week, Elliott dominated on the ground with another 130+ yards game. Last week against the Bears he ran for 140 yards and Sunday afternoon he rushed for another 138 as he helped lead the Cowboys to a win and a 3-1 record on the season.
But, for the older fans, that was more than a single win. It was a trip down memory lane as the Cowboys and 49ers put records aside and played the game like they did in the 90’s when it was Joe Montana, Jerry Rice and Roger Craig against Aikman, Smith, and Michael Irvin. The names on the uniforms may be different but the production was still the same.
Each team gave their best shot but it was the arm and legs of the Cowboys rookies that proved to be too much for the 49ers to handle. With Tony Romo nearing his return the question in Big D is “will he, or won’t he”? Will Romo get his starting job back or has Prescott done enough to end Romo’s career in Texas?
After the performance the two have put on the Cowboys would be foolish to screw with the chemistry Prescott and Elliott have, and when you throw in the third member of this trio, Dez Bryant, the Cowboys faithful are hoping fo a return to glory with a new Big Three.
