With 10 seconds left, it looked as if the VCU Rams would advance to the Round of 32, leading by four against Stephen F. Austin. That was before Desmond Haymon got the ball.

As Haymon threw up a three with three seconds left, the unimaginable happened. JeQuan Lewis fouled the senior, as the three swished right through the net. A possible and one would tie the game and send it straight into overtime. Haymon nailed the free throw, as the 28-game win streak was still intact.

The Lumberjacks went on to upset VCU 77-75, advancing to the next round. Lewis had a chance to give VCU the win with five seconds left in overtime, but it rimmed out.

With a 3:15 left in the game, Stephen F. Austin was down 10, as it looked like VCU would pull away. However, a 17-7 run, eight of those points coming from Haymon.

Jacob Parker dropped 22 points on 9-of-14 shooting for the Lumberjacks. Thomas Walkup added 12 points and 10 rebounds and Haymon 17 points. The team shot 17-23 from the free throw line and 53% from the field.

VCU had four double-digit scorers including Treveon Graham who scored 19 points on 8-of-14 shooting and 7 rebounds. The team did shoot 7-11 from the free throw line, including two missed free throws with 10 seconds left – which would have sealed the VCU victory.

Stephen F. Austin have now won 29 straight, including the third 5-12 upset of the tournament. They will play the winner of the UCLA-Tulsa game, who will tip 11:15 EST.
