The NFC North will have two of its better teams go at on Sunday at 1 pm. The NFC North leaders Minnesota Vikings will be welcoming their NFC North rivals Detroit Lions. As the second half of the season begins for many of the NFL teams in Week 9, there will be people saying if a game is either a must win or a crucial game. You can easily say that for this game as the Vikings need to win this game or they potentially could lose control of the NFC North. After starting off hot right out of the gate by starting off the season with a record of 4-0, they have gone 1-2 in their last three games. A few weeks ago, it seemed that the Vikings could easily have this division, that may all change after Sunday because if the Lions win against the Vikings and the Packers beat the Colts later on, then you will have three teams separated by one game in the loss column.

Let us first look at the Detroit Lions. They are coming into this game with a 4-4 record and are coming off a loss last week at the hands of the Texans. However, prior to that loss, the Lions were on a three-game winning streak and essentially turned around their season. After starting off the season with a record of 1-3, the Lions would end up getting wins over the Eagles, Rams, and Redskins. By going on this little run, it essentially put the Lions back in the playoff picture and possible the NFC North division title. I would also like to point out that the Vikings pass defense are going to have their hands full as Matthew Stafford is been playing very well this season, especially in these last four weeks. He has thrown for over 2,100 yards and has 16 passing touchdowns. It will be interesting to see how the Lions offense is able to handle one of the leagues best defenses.

On the other side, the Minnesota Vikings are coming into this game with a record of 5-2 and currently hold the 2nd seed in the NFC for the playoffs. You can say that the Vikings team that lost to the Eagles and the Bears is not the same team that was out there when the Vikings started off 4-0. It is also interesting to note that the Vikings went from dominating teams with lop-siding wins over the Panthers, Giants, and Texans to being dominated by the Bears and Eagles as they only scored ten points in those games. Like I said before, this game is incredibly crucial for the Vikings as they could end up possibly losing control of the division and the 2nd seed in the NFC. Like previously mentioned, if the Lions and Packers both win on Sunday, then the top three teams in the NFC North will be separated by one game in the loss column.
