There are few things that are more annoying or frustrating than being locked out of your car or home.

The first thing you need to do is locate a coat hanger and that might be the toughest step of them all. Check with nearby homes, businesses, or car owners and ask them if they have one.

Better yet, ask if they have an unlock blade or some other tool that will help you get in faster. If not, see what you can door with the hanger.

Open the coat hanger with a pair of pliers or your hand and make it as straight as possible but leaving the hook part of it in place. Depending on the age and model of your car, you are going to work the hanger down through the door frame opening and attempt to hook the lock knob and pull it up.

If you have power lock buttons, you can use the hanger to locate and push the power lock button.

Another fast and easy method if you are locked out of your vehicle is to use a long piece of string, paracord, or even a shoelace to open your pop up locks. This method will generally only work on older cars and not on those that utilize push button locks.

Take the string and form a slipknot loop in the middle. Make The loop hole about the width of two fingers and tighten it without closing the actual loop. Once you have the loop in place, work it into the top corner of the door and grab each end of the string. Slide it back and forth while pulling it down towards the lock.

Make sure to be aware of the loop as your goal is to get it near and around the lock knob.

Once you have maneuvered the loop around the lock, pull each end of the string to tighten it around the lock mechanism and then pull the lock up. Presto! You should be inside of your car in a couple of minutes.
