On April 25th of 1940, the sadistic  and super villainous character creation of Jerry Robinson, Bill Finger, and Bob Kane, known to the world as The Joker, was introduced in the pages of DC Comic’s Batman #1.

The Joker has become something of a cultural icon, and as a villain has been able to maintain the kind of popularity that is equal or greater to many heroic characters.

He is a character that has been portrayed in many mediums, which include appearances in three Batman films (don’t forget there was a 1966 Batman film), the 1960’s Batman television series, several animated movies and series, and many video games.

Next summer the world will be introduced to a new version of the Joker, portrayed by Academy Award Winner, Jared Leto. And as an early gift to the fans on the eve of The Clown Prince of Crime’s birthday, Suicide Squad director, David Ayers, posted a picture of Leto as The Joker to his Twitter page.

This picture is very reminiscent of an iconic image (shown at the top of the page) from the Batman graphic novel, The Killing Joke, written by Alan Moore.

Jared Leto, Margot Robbie, Will Smith, Jai Courtney, Joel Kinnaman, Jay Hernandez, Cara Delevingne, and Viola Davis will assemble the Suicide Squad on August 5, 2016.
