“Nobody ever did, or ever will, escape the consequences of his choices.

Jim Terrier is a sniper, on a team of mercenaries contracted to assassinate the Congo’s minister of mines. After Terrier successfully eliminates his target, he drops off the grid. To ensure his safety of his team member and the woman he loves, he is forced to abruptly sever ties with all of them. The assassination acts as a catalyst for increased turbulence in the already chaos riddled Congo.

Years later, while working for an organization with no direct governmental affiliation, Terrier returns to the Congo. Soon enough, he would discover what it feels like to be in somebody’s sights, as he’s targeted in connection with the assassination. Terrier just wants to be able to distance himself from the trappings his previous life, and reunite with the woman he loves. Perhaps the details secrets he recorded from his previous employment will either be the key to his salvation or then again maybe they will lead to his his demise.

Pierre Morel directed this film, which was adapted from Jean-Patrick Manchette’s novel, The Prone Gunman, by Don Macpherson and Pete Travis. Sean Penn leads a talented cast that includes Idris Elba, Ray Winstone, Mark Rylance, Jasmine Trinca, Peter Franzén, and Javier Bardem.

Will The Gunman be on target with audiences this weekend, or will it end up being a misfire? Moviegoers will have a chance to see if the movie is on point, when it arrives in theaters March 20th.
