Here are five players to take a look at on your fantasy baseball waiver wire as we head toward the second week of May.

5. Seattle Mariners SP Wade Miley

Miley’s 4.74 ERA on the season does not look great, but he has a 3.12 ERA over his last four starts while going at least six innings in five of six total starts. AL-only league owners should take a look at Miley, and it may not be long before he’s an asset in deeper mixed leagues.

4. Minnesota Twins 3B Trevor Plouffe

Plouffe had eight hits over three games (12 at-bats) prior to landing on the disabled list with an intercostal strain, and he recently returned to action. A double with a run scored Saturday night could be a sign of getting back into a groove, so Plouffe can be added back to fantasy rosters by those that seek help at third base.

3. Arizona Diamondbacks OF Brandon Drury

Drury has become an every-day player for Arizona, with production (.316, six home runs, 13 RBI and nine doubles) to justify it. I like Drury better as a long-term addition in NL-only leagues, but mixed league owners have to have him on their radar.

2. Oakland Athletics 2B Jed Lowrie

Lowrie is off to a very nice start in 2016, hitting .315 with 17 RBI and 10 runs scored. He should also be eligible at third base (47 games in 2015) and shortstop (17 games last season) in most fantasy leagues, so even with durability concerns Lowrie is worth a long look in mixed leagues.

1. Colorado Rockies SP Tyler Chatwood

Chatwood has gone at least six innings in five of his six starts so far this season, while allowing two runs or less four times as well. Rockies’ pitchers are tough to rely on in fantasy, but Chatwood’s ground ball tilt (51.8 percent so far this season) takes away some risk and gives him nice mixed league value.
