After spending a couple of weeks on my weekly streamers/sleepers fantasy football pieces, Tyreek Hill bust out in a big way last week, scoring a receiving touchdown, a rushing touchdown, and a return touchdown on Sunday Night Football. The national audience was finally exposed to what we’ve been seeing for a long time now: that Tyreek Hill is their best playmaker this side of Travis Kelce (and he may just usurp that title from Kelce).

Hill started the season as a part-time rotational player, mostly contributing on special teams and the occasional trick play. He got 7 targets in week four, but if you combine any three of his games other than that from weeks four through seven, he never got a combined seven targets in any of them. Starting in week eight, he started to get a higher role in the offense, when he got six targets. He hasn’t gone under five targets in a game since week eight, either. He’s been a dynamo with his opportunities, as well. When you watch the Chiefs, you see a team doing everything in their power to generate targets and opportunities for their best playmaker.

I originally began to recommend Tyreek Hill after he produced for over 85 yards in two of three weeks, and he did it in a span wherein he got 24 targets over the same three game stretch. He did this with both Nick Foles and Alex Smith under center, and his dud in the middle of that span was a Nick Foles start, which rarely goes well offensively anymore. He’s become a bigger and bigger part of the Chiefs offense, and with Jeremy Maclin playing just two snaps between week nine and twelve. Maclin is set to return this week, but the damage is already done, and Hill is here to stay.

This week the Chiefs take on a Falcons team that is twelfth in the league in giving up fantasy points to wide receivers this season, but those figures are mostly thanks to the efforts of their top corner Desmond Trufant. Trufant tore his pec last week and is out for the season, so there isn’t a whole heck of a lot stopping the Chiefs from doing whatever they want against the Falcons, and what they want to do is feed Tyreek Hill. He’s a decent floor option with a huge upside potential. He is a shoo-in for your flex spot or WR3 slot.
