As we head into Week 2 of the NFL season we are looking to get out Fantasy Football lineups locked and ready for action. Maybe you won last week, thanks to Drew Brees or took one on the chin, thanks to Kirk Cousins. Hopefully, this week will be a lot better for you. Here are my top 5 QBs to play heading into Week 2.
Cam Newton: (Panthers) Last week (21.16) Projected this week (26.56)
There should never be a week when Newton is not in the top 5. The Carolina Panthers signal-caller is that good that no matter the defense he can still get you points in numerous ways. Last week he netted 21 Fantasy Football Points against the top defense in the NFL but he will face the San Francisco 49ers who shut down Case Keenum. Keenum is no Newton. If Newton can hit his open receivers as he did against the Broncos and hit the edges with a few runs, you should expect a huge output from the MVP.
Blake Bortles: (Jaguars) Last week (15) Projected this week (19.98)
If the Chargers let Alex Smith net 27 FFP against them what will they let Bortles and that explosive offense do in week 2? Bortles had an average performance against the Packers defense with 15 FPP as he recorded 324 yards, one TD, and 1 INT. He looks to fare better against the Chargers defense this coming Sunday. Expect Bortles top post a top 5 score points.
Drew Brees: (Saints) Last Week (35.65) Projected this week (16.84)
Brees made the Raiders defense look like a Pee Wee football team as he passed for 423 yards and four touchdowns in route to 35 FFP. Brees will get anther crack at 30+ as he goes against a Giants defense that played exceptionally well but that was against rookie Dak Prescott. Look for Brees to target Willie Snead and Brandin Cooks often Sunday.

Derek Carr: (Raiders) Last week (22.36) Projected this week (23.52)
Carr proved in week 1 that he could be involved in a shootout with one of the game’s best QBs, Drew Brees. Carr netted 22 FFP with 319 yards and one TD against the Saints horrid secondary. This week the Raiders welcome the Falcons into town for what is sure to be another shootout. Expect Carr to exceed his projected 23 points.
Matthew Stafford: (Lions) Last week (26.10) Projected this week (18.78)
Stafford didn’t miss a beat with Calvin Johnson gone as he was still able to net 26 FFP with 340 yards and three TDs. This week Stafford will face a Titans defense that surrendered 236 passing yards to Shaun Hill of the Vikings. If Stafford can continue his chemistry with Golden Tate and Marvin Jones it’s safe to say Stafford will easily exceed his projected score.
