INSCMagazine: Get Social!

As we turn our attention to fantasy football week six, the quarterback landscape becomes clearer. Streaming is going to get harder, as people start to roster backups and the bye weeks roll in to take their tolls. This week shouldn’t have you needing to stream any quarterbacks due to yours being on bye, but if your QB is ineffective, injured or if streaming was your preferred strategy, we are here to help. The Stream Teams are under 50% ownership on Yahoo!, with one player under 10% ownership for deeper leagues. As always, numbers are as of Saturday afternoon.[embedit snippet=”jeff-ads”]

Brian Hoyer versus Jacksonville (20% owned)

Brian Hoyer will remain in this section until he gets the respect he deserves. Granted, he’s been feasting on subpar defenses, but in each of the three games Hoyer has started this season, he has at least 300 yards, two touchdowns, and zero interceptions. Hoyer takes on a Jacksonville, who is top-ten in fantasy points allowed to quarterbacks and has yielded 2+ touchdowns and 18.5 fantasy points or more in three of four games this season, with two of those QBs going over 23. He’s an ideal streaming option this week, and the player I would choose out of these three if I had the chance.

Brock Osweiler versus Indianapolis (16% owned)

Osweiler hasn’t looked great this season, and it’s incredibly likely the Texans have severe buyers’ remorse with his massive free agency contract. Osweiler is painfully league average, getting skittish and flustered by stronger defenses and performing well against weak ones. He has two touchdowns in each of his two games against poor defenses (Tennessee and Chicago), and two combined in his other three games against Kansas City, New England, and Minnesota. This week his opponent is an Indianapolis squad that is allowing over 300 yards per game to QBs and is coming off back-to-back two passing TD performances against. Osweiler is still Osweiler and is likely to throw a pick, but he should do fine against a bad Indy defense.

Deep Dive (by default)

Colin Kaepernick at Buffalo (8% owned)

Now that Cam Newton is back, only two starting quarterbacks have less than 10% ownership: Kaepernick and Case Keenum. Keenum has shown us what he is this far this season, and 20 fantasy points is his ceiling. So, we turn to Kaepernick and Chip Kelly. We’ve learned a few things so far this season: Kelly will have his quarterback run, Kelly will not let up, and Kelly will run as many plays as possible. While Gabbert is not a good real-life quarterback, he has two 20+ point performances already this season with Kelly, and Kaepernick is far more physically talented than Gabbert.

This is a tough team to take on, however, as the Bills have allowed the third-fewest fantasy points to QBs per game. Kap may be a GPP punt play rather than a stream this week, but he is going to light up Tampa Bay next week.
