The Frisco RoughRiders, Double-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers, took down the Arkansas Travelers in the series finale Thursday night, 3-1. Collin Wiles led the charge, tossing yet another dominating outing. With the win, Frisco took the series and improved their record to 51-66 on the season.

Wiles has been outstanding this season for the RoughRiders. Entering the year under the radar of most scouts and publications, Wiles has exploded onto the map. Thursday’s game was no different. He tossed seven innings, giving up four hits and allowing just one run. Wiles walked one and struck out an impressive eight batters. He earned the win, improving to 9-9 on the year.

Connor Sadzeck relieved Wiles, tossing one inning of no-hit baseball. He punched out one along the way. Reed Garret finished out the matchup on the hill for the RoughRiders, pitching one inning. He allowed no hits and struck out one, earning the save.

Royce Bolinger got things started for the RoughRiders in the third inning. He hit a triple, scoring a run. Isiah Kiner-Falefa followed with a sacrifice fly to score Bolinger, putting Frisco up 2-0. Bolinger wasn’t just an offensive hero in the game, as his defensive skills kept Frisco on top. He made an excellent throw to the plate in the third inning, getting what would have been the tying run out.

  • Collin Wiles delivered his team-leading 12th quality start, giving the Riders their 11th quality start in the past 14 games.
  • Isiah Kiner-Falefa took over the team lead in steals, swiping his 15th base in the eighth inning.
  • Reed Garrett tossed a scoreless ninth inning, earning his team-best seventh save. Garrett has gone 15 2/3 innings without allowing an earned run.
  • With Thursday’s win, the Riders have won four of their past five games.

The Frisco RoughRiders will begin a three-game set against the Kansas City Royals affiliate, the Northwest Arkansas Naturals, beginning Friday night. The first pitch is scheduled for 7:15 PM, from Arvest Ballpark in Springdale, Arkansas.

Frisco will send lefty Yohander Mendez (7-7, 3.86 ERA) to the hill. He’ll face right-hander Zach Lovvorn (4-5, 4.72 ERA). You can watch the action via MiLB.com, or listen to the broadcast at RidersBaseball.com.
