The Frisco RoughRiders, Double-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers, defeated the Arkansas Travelers 2-1 Wednesday night, in extra innings. The matchup went to 11, and Eric Aguilera’s RBI single evened the series at a game apiece. Frisco starting pitcher Tyler Davis continued his Double-A success, limiting the Seattle Mariners affiliate to just four hits in his time on the mound.
Down 1-0 in the fourth, Michael O’Neill stepped up to the plate. He hit a single that scored one, tying up the game. Aguilera sealed the deal in the 11th, with his RBI single. Aguilera would finish the night 2-4, with his RBI and a walk. O’Neill managed just one hit in five plate appearances, with his game-tying single being his only action. Andy Ibanez rounded out the RoughRiders batting action, as he went 2-5 with a stolen base.
Davis earned the no decision but tossed yet another solid outing. He went seven innings, allowing just four hits and one run (earned). He only walked one and punched out five total Travelers. It was another quality start for Davis, and he continues to be one of the most reliable starting pitchers for the RoughRiders.
In relief, Cody Palmquist and Nick Gardewine combined to toss four innings. They allowed three hits and no runs, collectively striking out eight batters and walking two.
