The Frisco RoughRiders, Double-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers, utilize Cole Hamels to help seal a victory over the San Antonio Missions, 4-2. Hamels, on a rehab assignment from the Rangers, pitched three innings in the RoughRiders win over the San Diego Padres affiliate on Friday.

Hamels finished with a line of 3.0 innings pitched, one hit, 0 runs, 0 walks, and three strikeouts. He looked solid in this short outing. For more details on how Hamels performed in his rehab outing, you can click here.

Connor Sadzeck, who was originally scheduled to start Friday, prior to the addition of Cole Hamels, entered in relief. He tossed 4.0 innings, allowing two hits and one run (earned). Sadzeck walked one and struck out four. He earned the win and now stands at 4-5 on the season. Cody Palmquist earned the save, pitching the last two innings of the game. He allowed one hit and one run (earned) while getting two punch outs and walking just one batter.

The RoughRiders offense got a spark in the second inning, with a Luke Tendler home run. This was his third consecutive game with a homer. Juremi Profar got his own solo deep ball in the fourth. Royce Bolinger hit a single in that same inning, scoring two runners and bringing the RoughRiders to a 4-0 lead.

Seven RoughRiders got hits in the matchup, with Jose Trevino and Michael De Leon being the only two who went without.

  • The crowd of 10,034 was the fourth this season of at least 10,000 fans through the first 30 Riders home games. Frisco leads the Texas League with an average of 6,722 fans per game.
  • With his solo shot in the second, Luke Tendler has home runs in three consecutive games. Juremi Profar has also homered in back-to-back contests.
  • Michael O’Neill extended his hitting streak to six games with a triple and a single. O’Neill has hits in 13 of 14 games with the Riders.

Frisco finally earned their first win of this four-game series. Game one and two both went to the Missions. The final game of the set is scheduled for Saturday. First pitch will be at 7:05 PM CT, from Dr. Pepper Ballpark in Frisco, Texas.
