The Frisco RoughRiders, Double-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers, were nearly no-hit in their 6-0 loss to Corpus Christi Wednesday night. Hooks pitcher Alex Winkelman was one out away from throwing the no-hitter. RoughRiders infielder Eric Aguilera broke it up with two outs in the ninth inning.

The loss continues to push the RoughRiders deeper into last place in the Texas League. The Club now sits at 41-55, last in the Texas League South and the entire Texas League.

Winkelman wasn’t the only pitcher to have a good night. RoughRiders starter Collin Wiles finished the matchup with a quality start. He tossed six innings, allowing four hits and three runs (all earned). The young hurler struck out a career-high nine batters while walking just one. Despite the solid outing, Wiles took the losing decision and now sits at 7-7 on the season.
