Jose Trevino comes up big for the Frisco RoughRiders, Double-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers, in their 8-4 win over the Springfield Cardinals Sunday night. The series opener featured a career-high five RBIs for Trevino, including a monster two-run homer in the second inning.

Trevino, noted for his exceptional defense prowess, proved that he can handle a bat just as well as a glove. He finished the night 3-4, including his home run, five RBIs, and two runs scored. With the Texas Rangers shopping Jonathan Lucroy, odds are in favor of Trevino getting promoted to Triple-A Round Rock and possibly ending up in Major League Baseball before long.

Outfielder Luke Tendler also had a solid offensive night, going 2-3 with two doubles, a walk, and three runs. Hitting just ahead of Trevino in the series opener paid off for the Frisco RoughRiders, as Tendler was able to be on base often, helping in Trevino’s RBI total.

Collectively, the team hit an impressive 4-for-5 with runners in scoring position. They left just three runners stranded throughout the game.

Tyler Davis started on the mound for the RoughRiders, making his Double-A debut. Fresh off a promotion from Low-A Hickory, Davis tossed an impressive game. His final line: 6.0 IP, 4 H, 1 R (earned), 1 BB, 2 K, 1 HR. It was a quality start, and the 24-year-old righty looked well poised.

In relief, Brady Feigl was charged with a blown save. He allowed four hits and three runs (all earned) over his one inning of work. Shane McCain was credited for the win, pitching one inning of no-hit baseball. He walked one and struck out one. Nick Gardewine closed out the matchup, allowing one hit and one walk in his one inning.

Frisco RoughRiders pitchers held the Cardinals hitless with runners in scoring position, with six Springfield players left on base.
