INSCMagazine: Get Social!

There is hot, and then there is Texas hot.

It’s not only a reference in terms to the brutal and unforgiving heat that is native to the Southwestern state with a population of 26.4 million, but also the collective attractiveness of many of its beauty pageant-worthy female population.

While many associate the Lone Star State with its uber-zealous obsession with football—especially high school—Texas is home to some of the most beautiful and hottest women in the world. Notable natives include Victoria’s Secret alums Bridget Hall, Erin Wasson and Kim Smith, Gilmour Girls star Alexis Bledel, Gossip Girl alum Leighton Meester, Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria and of course Queen Bey herself, Beyonce.

As with all things in the world of entertainment and modeling, there is always the search for that next diamond in the rough and fresh new face. Could up-and-coming El Paso-born Mexican-American model and singer, Gabbie Vazquez be the next Lone Star beauty?

A petite and eye-catching beauty at just over five feet, Vazquez has her sights set on conquering the world of music and modeling. A self-described sound of EDM, pop and R&B, Vazquez—at the still young age of 20—has already turned some heads in the world of modeling, is currently at work in the recording studio on her first unnamed four-song EP and single.

Below is a Q and A with the talented and easy-on-the-eyes Vazquez, where we talk about music, Team Taylor or Team Katy, a little EDM and some fall fashion of course!

R.C. What brands have you modeled for? Which one do you enjoy modeling for the most?

G.V. “A clothing line called “work for something” but that’s my first of many more to come.”

R.C. Where has been your favorite place to shoot?

G.V. “Monahans sand dunes of East Texas.”

R.C. What is the most exciting aspect of modeling and singing?

G.V. “The most exciting part about both of them is being able to share my art with the world!”

R.C. Music wise, where have some of your favorite places to perform at?

G.V. “The town center of McKinney in the historic downtown because that’s my hometown.”

R.C. What is your opinion of today’s music?

G.V. “Today’s music is a strange combination of some of the best artists and performers the world’s ever seen and music that lacks basic creativity. So I believe it’s time for the next round of main stream artists to make their way from the underground to the A-list and bring an entirely new sound to the music we listen to on the top 40 these days.

The revolution has already begun with the infusion of EDM (electronic dance music) into pop culture. This changed the focus of most music from song lyrics or meaning to a focus primarily on the production of the song.

Now, I believe, there will be a second wave revolution of artists and producers combined to make a whole new top 40 of music with thoughtful lyrics and artistry of production.”

R.C. Team Katy or Taylor?

G.V. “I assume the question is talking about Katy Perry or Taylor Swift and I would definitely go Team Katy!”

R.C. Musical influences?

G.V. “If I could pin point my style on any three artists I would be and infusion of: Niykee Heaton’s sex appeal and style, Kehlani’s music style and her swag, and lastly Adele’s voice bringing a jazz back into popular music.”

R.C. How would you best describe your vocal sound?

G.V. “I have a Jazz voice for sure but I plug that into a hip-hop or R&B beat and throw an EDM spin on it…I wish I knew a better way to describe my style but that’s all I got! Haha!”

R.C. OK, so kinda like a Meghan Trainor/Krewella-type of beat?

G.V. “Yeah! And a little sprinkle of Ariana Grande sex appeal and it’s golden.

I’m not like anyone out there on the market that’s for sure so I suppose it’s a good problem to have to not be able to pinpoint my sound on any artist that’s big right now”

R.C. With fall right now here, what fashion and style tips and trends do you have for looking good when the temperature drops?

G.V. “I get cold so easily so I’m not a huge fan of the cold! My tips for keeping warm are leggings under my jeans at all times! I always have fuzzy socks on! And keep some hand warming pouches in your pocket when you know you’ll be outside a while!”

R.C. Within the industry, who is your modeling inspiration?

G.V. “Gigi Hadid is one of my favorites right now, but one of my all-time favorites will always be (Victoria’s Secret Angel) Candice Swanepoel”

R.C. What is your secret to staying in shape?

G.V. “The trick to keeping your figure and also eating things that make you happy—because both are very crucial—is to eat small snack sides meals all day throughout the day and make sure to not eat too close to bed especially things fatty or sugary. Save those for the morning! LOL!”

R.C. Outside of modeling, what are your hobbies?

G.V. “Modeling, singing, acting, dancing all are my hobbies, but I just choose to make my hobbies and my passions the main focus of my life instead of pushing them to the back burner.

So outside of modeling, I’m working on my singing career or performing in some other way, it’s my passion!”

R.C. Sports question: Who are your favorite teams and clubs?

G.V. “I am a die-hard Dallas Mavericks fan to the bone! I love basketball, football, and soccer. Those are my main sports that I get really into.

My soccer team is Mexico (El Tri) because my dad was born there so it’s in my blood and my football team in the Indianapolis Colts because my mom was born in Indiana and it was my mom that got me into football in the first place.”

R.C. What are your favorite cities to travel to?

G.V. “I love traveling anywhere! The most podunk one light town all the way to New York I love seeing new places! But my favorite trip to date was my trip to St. Louis, Missouri! Many more to come though!”

R.C. What advice would you give to women aspiring to get into modeling and singing?

G.V. “The best advice I could give to anyone wanting to do anything but especially in these industries is fall in love with the process.

If you aren’t having the best time of your life getting all the “no’s” and your only striving for the top spot, then truth be told, you’ll never make it. The climb needs to be the highlight of the experience. One doesn’t just admire the top of the mountain but it’s the mountain as a whole that is impressive.”
