This is the most anticipated game of the divisional round weekend. For the 8th time in postseason history, the Dallas Cowboys and Green Bay Packers square off Sunday in Dallas. The Packers are coming off a dominating win against the New York Giants, whereas the Cowboys are coming off a bye week.
The series between the Packers and Cowboys are tied at 17 a piece. Dallas, however, leads the postseason series 4-3 and most recently beat the Packers in Lambeau during this year’s regular season.
Green Bay coach Mike McCarthy is 5-3 against the Dallas Cowboys where Cowboys coach Jason Garrett is 1-4 against the Packers.
These two teams are evenly matched and the Packers have deep playoff experience. The Dallas Cowboys are led by two rookies in Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliot.
For Dallas to win, they must be clicking on all cylinders and cannot let Green Bay get too far ahead of them. Even though Dallas has been successful playing from behind in situations, this is a game where they need to assert their dominance right from the start.
With the Green Bay Packers playoff experience and veteran leadership, they just need to remain hot to win this game. No one can count them out if Aaron Rodgers is the quarterback.
Dallas’ defense needs to apply pressure to Rodgers and his offense and Green Bay’s defense needs to do the same to the Cowboys offense.
It should be interesting to see how Dallas’ rookies react to the pressure of a win or go home game. These rookies and veterans on the Cowboys need to step up and play the best game of their lives.
Dallas cannot come out rusty after their bye week. They need to come out with the hunger they have shown all season long.
This matchup has the makings of a classic playoff game. Look for neither team to completely dominate. This game will come down to who doesn’t turn the ball over.
Dallas gets their redemption from two years ago and wins by 3.
