Green Bay Packers: Four round mock 2017 NFL Draft

When looking at the Green Bay Packers you would have to say they have the offense. They finished the regular season ranked 8th in total offense but 22nd in total defense. It’s clear to Packer fans that they need some serious improvements on the defensive side of the ball. The Packers have one of the greatest quarterbacks that have ever played the game, but he needs help. They definitely added some weapons for him by adding tight ends Martellus Bennett and Lance Kendricks. One would think that Green Bay is going to make its moves on improving the defense in the draft. But who should the Packers take to make those much-needed improvements?

Round 1 – Pick 29: Raekwon McMillan, Linebacker from Ohio State

The Green Bay Packers top priority on defense should be strengthening their linebacking core. Clay Matthews has been playing inside linebacker for Green Bay due to injuries in the past. But, he needs to be moved back to outside linebacker where he has been the most effective. McMillan has everything you want in a linebacker and could give them a legitimate day one starter. This would be the perfect choice for Green Bay!

Round 2 – Pick 61: Montravius Adams, Defensive Tackle from Auburn

The Packers defensive line needs some work and Adams could fit well in their 3-4 scheme. Mike Daniels and Kenny Clark were both very solid for the Green Bay Packers. But they still need to add another piece if they want to solidify their front 3. Adams has good size and strength to play at the nose tackle position. He also has the speed and quickness off the snap to play defensive end. The Packers could definitely use a player like Adams to help improve their poor run defense.

Round 3 – Pick 93: Marlon Mack, Running Back from South Florida

After the Packers decided to part ways with both James Starks and Eddie Lacy, they will most certainly need to find their replacement. In fact, the amount of talent in this years draft is outstanding and Mack would be a great choice in the 3rd round. Mack also has some phenomenal agility and has definitely improved as a pass catcher out of the backfield. Mack would give the Packers a running back they could throw in as their starter. He just needs to improve his ball security if he wants to remain their starter.

Player Comparison: James Starks

Round 4 – Pick 134: Howard Wilson, Cornerback from Houston

Green Bay decided to part ways with veteran Sam Shields and resigned former packer corner Davon House. Adding a player like Wilson would give Green Bay depth and a true ball hawk style corner. Wilson averaged 1 interception every 15 targets, which is fantastic! The Green Bay Packers could use some more play makers in the secondary and Wilson could give them that.
