Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is drawing closer and closer, as it will be the first Marvel film to be released in 2017 on May 5th. Sure it is still a good seven months away, but with each passing day, we are one day closer to seeing Star-Lord, Gamora and the rest of the crew in action once again!
Now not much is known about the film because there has been no true promotion for it yet. But the intrigue will increase more and more as time goes on and nuggets of information come out. We got some very interesting reveals at this year’s Comic-Con, with Kurt Russell’s character being confirmed as Ego the Living Planet, and Star-Lord’s father.
About a month and a half ago, another nugget emerged, in the form of a piece of concept art for the film. It shows our heroes fighting off some awesome-looking space monster, which you can view right here. That brings us to our first question: who is this giant space monster, and how will it factor into the story? My best guess says it will be featured at the beginning of the film when we are first re-introduced to the Guardians. It will be them doing a little good, a little bad or a little bit of both (I’d say some good in this instance).
But this brings us back to the point, we still have a ton of questions about this film. One of those questions is, who the heck is Sylvester Stallone playing? That is then followed up by, how big of a role will the actor have in the film? Rumor has it he will be a member of the Ravengers, but that has not been confirmed.
Now I am not here to answer that question, but rather make a statement. Given the franchise is known for it’s soundtrack in the first film, how perfect would it be to include a song that is synonymous with Stallone in the sequel?

The song in question is Eye of the Tiger by Survivor. The song was the theme song to Stallone’s film Rocky III back in 1982 and served as the background music for one of the franchise’s most iconic scenes. You can check out that iconic scene, along with Eye of the Tiger below.
Now just picture a scene in Guardians of the Galaxy: Volume 2 where Stallone’s character is taking down people left and right. How cool would it be to have him do so to the tune of this classic? A classic that has been connected to him since 1982.
It would be so cool to have the song play while Stallone is on screen, but it is not a requirement. Just the inclusion of the song would be a nice little Easter Egg given Stallone’s presence in the film. The beat of the song makes it an ideal candidate for the new film, as it shares many of the same upbeat, fun qualities of songs in the original.
