Homer Bailey has thrown the second no-hitter of his career this time shutting down the San Francisco Giants. His only blemish a walk in the seventh inning to Gregor Blanco and faced just one over the minimum. The Cincinnati Reds starter joins Justin Verlander, Mark Buehrle, and Roy Halladay as the only active pitchers with multiple no-hitters.

For Bailey, he needed 109 pitches to get the job done, only throwing more than 15 pitchers in an inning once. He struck out nine and improved his record to 5-6 for the year.  After the walk to Blanco, Bailey recorded the next nine outs easily and fittingly the last out was Blanco, who grounded out to Todd Frazier.

Joey Votto hit a sacrifice fly in the first and Brandon Phillips hit a two-run shot for the three runs for the Reds off Tim Lincecum who took the loss and dropped his record to 4-9.

Here’s a look at some Tweets after Bailey’s no-hitter:

When Bailey talked to MLB Network about his no-hitter, he said:

Bailey’s no-hitter was the 280th in MLB history. He also has the 279th no-hitter, throwing the last no-hitter of 2012 and the first of 2013.
