With the Texans not having a playoff ready quarterback or a quarterback at all, the Houston Texans went big and drafted DeShaun Watson in the first round. After having an amazing college career, Watson, who fell a lot farther than other quarterbacks should have fallen, fell into an amazing roster and a winning now team. The Texans needed Watson more than Watson needed the Texans…if that makes sense, but Houston is now a dominant force in the already weak AFC South. Adding a quarterback with so much success in college, along with being a physical and mobile quarterback, will help the Houston Texans succeed for many years to come.

With Watson just winning the BCS National Championship, I personally thought it would be a no brainer that he would be the first quarterback selected; instead, he fell all the way into the laps of The Houston Texans. Now Watson is able to bring his winning mentality over to the Texans, along with playing against pro-style defenses, having a 2-1 record against coaches with last names of Saban and Meyer. Watson has had so much success, and it is going to help him break out and potentially be the Rookie of the Year, having one of the best wide outs, DeAndre Hopkins, along with a dominant run game, Lamar Miller, to help coach him and help release any pressure or obstacles he may face down the season. DeShaun Watson has experience in playing in a pro-style offense, broke many school records, and won a plethora of games in one of the toughest conferences in college football.

With the experience, mentality, and skill that Watson brings, and the amazing assets that The Houston Texans provide, DeShaun Watson is destined for a break out year. Watson will be the only rookie quarterback from this draft that will make the playoffs this year, along with, bold prediction alert, throwing over 4,000 yards and 30 TD’s, helping him win the Rookie of the Year award.
