BMW is known around the world as a shining light of luxury and function. Even though we value style and power, it is also important to consider fuel economy. After all, your ride deserves to feel fun, and should not feel like a drain on your pocket. Have a look at our reviews of the newest BMWs so you can enjoy the best of everything.

BMW X5

This luxury SUV is ranged 8.7/10 by US News. You will really enjoy all this SUV has to offer, but you came for the fuel mileage. Expect 15-18 while in the city, and 21-24 while you are on the highway. You will really enjoy the all-wheel-drive feature of this SUV, and the engine which can range anywhere from 335-456 horsepower.

It will seat five people comfortably, and you will really take pleasure in the infotainment system which is very easy to use and quite user-friendly. If traveling long distances, you can take comfort in the seats which are comfortable for all-day sitting-no hurt backs here. This review examines the 2019 version of this SUV, which has been totally redesigned for a new generation.

Buying a used BMW X5 won’t leave you in the cold, but you will miss out on some of the newer features like a larger touch screen for the infotainment, Apple CarPlay, forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, lane assist, and emergency braking, just to name a few great features. The handling, engine power, and overall comfortable interior make this car a real winner.

BMW 3 Series

The 2018 model features 17-31 MPG in the city, and 24-43 while on the highway. Car and Driver ranks this BMW as having great fuel economy. This car comes with the BMW infotainment system known as iDrive6.0 which is now standard in all BMW models. You can enjoy the touchscreen capability standard in our modern world, instead of a rotary knob that was found in previous models.

Standard engine size comes in at 180 horsepower. You can certainly opt for larger engine size, however that will come at a price. However, our experience proved that the standard engine size was just as much fun to drive as the larger one. Opt for the manual transmission for extra fun.

BMW 7 Series

Okay, with its outstanding fuel economy, you absolutely cannot go wrong with this beautiful and slick looking BMW 7-series. The vehicle features 13-21 city MPG and 20-29 highway. You will absolutely love the combination of practicality and power this car features. Its engine selections are nothing to shake a stick at. You can choose between five different options.

Starting with the four-cylinder plug in hybrid model and going to a V12 (yes, a V12), there’s something for everybody here.  Many of us will choose the 6 Cylinder, 3.0 liter inline or the 4.4-liter V8 which comes standard on the 740i-750i models.

Twin turbochargers and an 8-speed transmission are part of the package, and no matter what you end up with, the power speaks for itself. The largest engine offered on this particular line of vehicles-the 600 horsepower v8- has the ability of reaching 60 MPH in just 3.6 seconds.

BMW 5 Series

One thing we really liked about this particular ride is that there was a great hybrid trim option available. This review references the 2018 version of this car and is ranked a 9.1 by US News. You will enjoy 16-24 MPG when it comes to driving in the city, and 25-34 while on the highway.

The engines are powerful, the handling is easy and fun, and the onboard technology makes it a treat to ride or drive this car any time of day or night. The car itself is rather well-rounded, combining fuel efficiency and performance like no other. You get the plug-in hybrid model, a diesel model, or the high-performance M branded versions to choose from.

The 530e can travel for up to 16 miles on electric power, which is great for the environment and your wallet. That particular model gets 72 MPG-E combined. If you opt for the diesel option, you can expect 26/36 MPG for the city and highway respectively.

Conclusion

The greatest thing about today’s BMWs are that they have everything we want and need in a luxury car, but also understand that money is important. A car should make you feel excited and happy about having to drive it each and every day to work, school and personal appointments.

A car that makes you feel resentment about driving it-whether it is due to the gas mileage, poor performance, or lack of features-is just a sign that you need to seek what truly makes you excited to drive. Check out these BMWs for inspiration!
