This Thursday night there will be a showdown between two AFC South division rivals. The 2-4 Jacksonville Jaguars will travel North to take on the 3-4 Tennessee Titans. The Jaguars are coming off a total beatdown at home, as the Oakland Raiders came into Jacksonville in week seven and won 33-16. The Titans suffered a home loss of their own, as they lost to the Indianapolis Colts by a score of 34-26.

The Jaguars have been one of the most disappointing teams in the NFL this season. With a young nucleus with plenty of promise, many expected them to take a step forward, myself included. But Blake Bortles has not been very effective, the defense has been an overall disappointment, and the club has taken a step backwards. Their two wins came by a total of four points, and came against the likes of the Colts and Chicago Bears. Their losses on the other hand, have been by 4, 24, 2 and 17 points. So they have simply been all over the place. The two games they lost by single digits came at home, but their win against the Bears did come on the road at least. On the road this week, there really are no signs to think this is the week they turn things around.

The Titans have not exactly been the most consistent team either. Two of their three wins have actually come on the road. Those wins have come by margins of one point, three points, and two points. They have plenty of offensive weapons, with Marcus Mariota under center and DeMarco Murray showing the skills he did a few years back in Dallas. Delanie Walker is the teams best weapon in the air, but Rishard Matthews is another solid threat. The team does not have much of a defense, and this one could turn into a high scoring affair if the Jaguars offense finally lives up to some of its potential.

My initial thought on this one was to take the Titans, simply because I am fed up with Jacksonville. But then when I saw the Titans have not won a game by more than three points this season, how could I possibly lay three and a half with a team that I do not love. So while the Jaguars have shown to be one of the worst teams in the NFL, the Titans only beat the Browns by two at home. So I will look for the Jaguars to do enough to at least stay within a field goal of the Titans, if not pull off the upset victory. If they can’t stick in this one, I will probably ban myself from ever picking the Jaguars again as I have had no luck with them this season.
