NFL scouts knew Jamal Adams was one of the elite players in this draft class. His recent workout at LSU’s Pro Day solidified the safety as a top five pick.

Adams ran a 4.56 40-yard dash at the 2017 NFL Combine. While the time wasn’t awful, it definitely wasn’t all that great. However, he more than made up for it with his performance at his Pro Day on Wednesday.

Nobody has released Adams’ official 40 time, but reports have varied from 4.33 to 4.41. If the former is correct, then he shed an entire two-tenths of a second off of his time. Now, to add to his impressive game tape, he boasts a great 40 time, as well. If there were any doubts before, it should be certain now:

And after the Cleveland Browns and San Francisco 49ers take pass rushers with the first two picks, the first team faced with a tough decision to make.

Has Jamal Adams run toward the first defensive back being taken off the board?

In this player profile, we will look at the strengths and weaknesses of Adams as he moves on to the next level. We also include a few teams that will be interested in adding help to their secondary.

Strength

Speed. The 40-yard dash proved he has great speed to stay with the top pass catchers in the NFL. He is a natural-born leader. He is well-built and will not hesitate for one second as a hitter.

Steps downhill looking to punish running backs to set a tone for the defense.

Weaknesses

Jamal Adams is a little stiff when he has to change direction. Additionally, he is a bit handsy with receivers. Consequently, on the next level will result in a penalty.

His anticipation is deemed average and does not look good as a center-fielder in space.
