2016 took someone else today.

Legendary movie actor Jerome Silberman has died. He was also known as Gene Wilder. It is being reported that he died from complications of Alzheimer’s disease. He was active in the entertainment world from 1961 until his death in 2016. He mostly got his notoriety by doing films. However, he also had some television roles, roles on Broadway, and wrote several books.

Gene Wilder got his career started in movies in 1967, he did other small projects before hand. The first movie he did was Bonnie and Clyde. A year later he would do the Producers and was nominated for best supporting actor. The next major movie he did was in 1971, when he did the original Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. There are many people who still consider him to be Willy Wonka. In 1974, he would go on and do two legendary comedy movies for famous movie director Mel Brooks. The two movies he did was Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein.

He would continue to do movies until 1991 with Another You. He would make his return to doing TV movies in 1999 with Murder in a Small Town, Alice in Wonderland, and the Lady in Question.

Wilder is one of the most legendary actors from the 1970’s and has not done anything new since 1999 but when you help make some of the most legendary films it does not matter. After he stopped doing movies, he started writing books as he wrote his memoir in 2005. When you think of legendary movie actors, he is up there. Yes, he is not a Robert DeNiro, but his work is what made him a legendary actor. Gene Wilder will be missed by fans of his movies as he left a lasting impact on everyone who saw him. Gene Wilder was 83 years old.
