A person’s mood and psychology is affected by almost everything in his/her surrounding, from the sounds they hear to the air they breathe in. Everything all together plays an important role in making or ruining a person’s mental state.

However, the way the influence may vary from person to person depending on their age, gender, emotional & ethnic attachment to a particular color, mental state and even the atmosphere.

When selecting a color for your room, you should not just mindlessly decide what color you paint your room in but look for colors which leave a pleasing impression on mind and body.

When choosing color pallets for your room, you should first decide what kind of mood and feel do you want to set in your room. While these colors have a psychological influence, they should also show your own personality and taste.

Every color has a psychological value and can stimulate certain emotions and feelings so before you select any color see what mood it leaves you with.

If you want to create a soothing and harmonious psychological influence then use colors that can actually give you what you need. Color is a key element that makes or breaks the entire look of your room; so it’s not just your mood and psychological effect you should consider when choosing colors but also the entire theme and look you want in your room.

Blue is a color known to invoke feelings of calmness and serenity. The reason this color is preferred by people seeking a soothing and relaxing ambiance in their room is because the color generally leaves one with a normal and even improved blood pressure, respiration and heart rate.

A person with increased blood pressure if sits at a place with relaxing blue interior is observed to feel better after some time. However, when selecting some pastel hues of blue make sure you warm it down with darker shades of blue in furnishing or accent pieces.

When red is generally considered to show danger it also is known to increase the volume and energy of your rooms. The color is considered as the first choice of people seeking to create a fun and enthralling feel and look in their interior.

Red is the color that naturally draws attention and creates feelings of warmth and love. If you want a room that works as your energy booster too, then red is definitely the color you’re looking for as it pumps up the blood pressure and adrenaline.

3. Yellow:

When you think about yellow you get a happy and sunny feeling, you think of all good yellow things, like: sunshine, sunflowers and what not. Nothing translates delight and bliss like yellow.

If you want your rooms to look illuminated and airy then hues of uplifting yellows can do the trick. However, using yellow as the key color for your rooms is a bit risky; some people are observed to lose their cool when surrounded by too much of yellow.

4. Green:

Shades of green are possibly the most versatile color; not just it soothes down your temper and mood, but can also create warmth and is also welcoming. Used anywhere in your home it will leave a homely and illuminating feeling. Even if you use a shade of green as a basic color, it will not look over powering or leave any negative psychologically on you.

If you need some electrifying feel within your decor then orange is the color you’re looking for. Orange is known to build up excitement in a very positive way. If you’re looking for a color to motivate you for a nice workout then paint your exercise room in hues of orange.

However, it might not be a wise color choice for bed room or living room because it has the tendency to suppress other elements of a décor and can be too much to handle for your nerves as well. These basic colors with their major characteristics can play a major role in psychologically prompting your moods and emotions.
