Will this weekend by Frank Mir’s swan song in MMA? He has had a brilliant career in the sport that saw two separate runs with the UFC Heavyweight Title. Mir has the record for most UFC fights in the Heavyweight division with wins over some of the biggest names in the sport such as Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, Roy Nelson, Mirko Flipovic, Brock Lesnar and Tim Sylvia.

However, despite all of his success in his career he is currently in the midst of a four-fight losing streak. His last victory came all the way back at UFC 140 on December 10, 2011. Since then he has been knocked out by Junior Dos Santos and Josh Barnett while also losing two lopsided decision losses to Daniel Cormier and Alistair Overeem.

Frank Mir swears he still has something left in the tank and it has even been rumored that he wants another crack at Brock Lesnar in a classic rubber match of their trilogy. That is assuming Lesnar returns to the UFC after his WWE contract runs out in April. Frank still has what it takes to compete at a world class level, but as long as the losses keep piling up, the rope may be getting shorter Dana White and the UFC are willing to allow Mir to hang on to.

If this weekend’s fight against Antonio Big Foot Silva doesn’t go his way and the fifth straight loss does arrive, it may spell doom for his career and push Mir into retirement. So what would be next if this truly is his last fight? Mir stated on an interview with The Chronicle-Journal that he wants to go into commentary when he retires from the UFC. “I like analyzing fights and I like doing color commentating. “It’s an opportunity I would take advantage of when I run into it.

Hopefully, it’s something I can do full time. Stay tuned later this week for my official UFC Fight Night Mir vs Silva preview and predictions.

Until next time fight fans, remember, “No Blood : No Foul”
