Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, and Roman Reigns are all part of the Monday Night Raw roster and WWE has yet to use any of the three as part of a storyline. Reigns and Rollins may have buried the hatchet to battle Kevin Owens and Chris Jericho, but once the relationship between the two Canadians went south, the two former Shield members went their separate ways.

It’s not too far-fetched to think the company that brought the Hounds of Justice together may want to rekindle the flames of magic now that the Superstar Shakeup is complete. Apparently, the idea of a family reunion wasn’t a consideration.

Reigns will continue his quest to beat Braun Strowman. WWE has embedded Rollins in a bitter battle with Samoa Joe. Ambrose will once again face The Miz with the Intercontinental Title in the balance. Believe me when I say the idea of this feud continuing does nothing to excite me. WWE had an opportunity to push the button on a Rollins/Ambrose feud and failed to make the right chess move.

The feud between Seth Rollins and Joe will come to an end in the next month. Reigns and Strowman will cease once it is determined who will face Brock Lesnar for the Universal Heavyweight Title. Dean Ambrose has been a nonfactor with the Intercontinental Title even before he made the jump from Smackdown Live to Monday Night Raw.

The Miz is way too talented to not wear a belt. Ambrose, on the other hand, may need to relinquish his hold on the red team’s second most important title to become the superstar he is capable of being.

Once this current round of feuds reach completion, what happens to Monday Night Raw? Joe could face Reigns. The Miz will find himself in Finn Balor’s path. Strowman and Lesnar are on a collision course and Rollins and Ambrose are there – ripe for a return engagement.

The feud that was ripe with vengeance not so long ago could heat up again – was even teased last week when Dean Ambrose reminded Seth Rollins of turning on The Shield – and would give WWE fans a blockbuster match at SummerSlam.

As the summer months begin to heat up, the company will sell SummerSlam as normal. The second-most important pay-per-view event on WWE’s calendar is a showcase both Rollins and Ambrose would sell the hell out of. No title needed. WWE has written a backstory already. The best thing that could happen in this next chapter would be an Ambrose heel turn and the same intensity from both performers in the ring.

A Rollins-Ambrose feud makes more sense than Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns or the slapstick comedy of an Ambrose-Reigns confrontation. The chemistry in the ring is undeniable. The war of words in promos was heartfelt. Watching them in the ring and in front of a camera reminded me of Magnum TA and Tully Blanchard and to some degree, CM Punk and John Cena. It was that special.

It can be that special again.

WWE needs to consider such a chess move. The Miz deserves a title run and a potential Universal Title opportunity. Strowman, Reigns, and Lesnar will dance around each other a few more laps. Balor will once again make a run at championship success. Samoa Joe will continue to act as a mercenary for management. This idea – this rebirth of a great feud makes too much sense. At the end of the day, Ambrose needs a storyline like this to erase the thoughts of laziness by management. Rollins needs a storyline like this to prove he hasn’t become a forgotten superstar.

More important than all of that, fans need a feud like this to begin to feel the excitement of Summerslam. All everyone is waiting for is WWE to show its hand and play the right cards.
