Are you itching for some Fincher, and can’t wait to see if he’ll actually be the one directing The Girl Who Played with Fire? Perhaps you’re jonesing for some Affleck, but the wait to see him transform into ‘Batfleck” in 2016 is just too long.

Maybe neither is the case and you are just in the mood for a mystery or thriller to bend your mind a bit. If any of these happen to be the case, Gone Girl may be good for what ails for you.

David Fincher is at the helm to direct this highly anticipated adaptation of Gillian Flynn’s best-selling novel. Flynn not only wrote the novel, but she was also charged with the task of adapting it for the screen. Ben Affleck headlines a cast that features the likes of Rosamund Pike, Neil Patrick Harris, Tyler Perry, Patrick Fugit, Carrie Coon, Sela Ward and model du jour, Emily Ratajkowski.

Gone Girl tells the story of Nick Dunne (Affleck), a man whose wife Amy (Pike) has mysteriously gone missing around the time of their fifth wedding anniversary. Nick reports his wife’s disappearance, and afterward is quickly thrown headlong into a tumultuous world of police inquiry, investigation, and media furor.

As is the nature of the beast, in a nation where the media has its all seeing eye-gazing upon everything, inquiring minds always want to know.

Why is Nick behaving the way he is? Is Amy dead or just missing? What might Nick be hiding? Is Nick as innocent as he tries to appear, or does he actually have a skeleton or two that need to remain buried? What will be found as the idyllic façade of their seemingly wedded bliss begins to crack and peel away?

The answers to those questions and more will come to light when it’s released nationwide in theaters on October 3rd.
