“The boundaries which divide Life from Death are at best shadowy and vague. Who shall say where the one ends, and where the other begins?” –  Edgar Allan Poe

Medical science has traditionally been concerned with the preservation of human life, but there are those who may seek to find ways by which they can cheat death itself. A group of young medical researchers have been trying to develop a serum which could actually bring those who have died back to life. The serum, which these researchers have dubbed “Lazarus”, has been successful in tests performed on animals. The next logical step is a test on a human subject, and the death of one of the team’s colleagues gives them that opportunity. When a researcher, named Zoe, is killed in a tragic lab accident, the team decides to employ the “Lazarus” serum to successfully bring her back. However, when Zoe come back from the dead, she brings something back with her – something unspeakably evil. The team will soon learn that tampering with this mortal coil, by opening doors that should remain closed, can have dangerous and horrifying results.

The Lazarus Effect was directed by David Gelb, based on a script written by Jeremy Slater and Luke Dawson. It features a cast that includes Olivia Wilde, Mark Duplass, Evan Peters, Donald Glover, and Sarah Bolger.

Will The Lazarus Effect horrify audiences with its cautionary tale of reanimating the dead, or will it be necessary to revive audiences from the stupor of boredom? Audiences shall see, when The Lazarus Effect opens in theaters Friday February 27th of 2015.
