It’s hard to say what a team must improve on when considering they were dominant on both sides. Their offense finished the season ranked 4th overall and the defense finished 8th overall. When you consider the players they’ve added during the offseason, some would think that the Patriots are going to be even better in 2017. That being said, the New England Patriots always have room for improvement. The Pats do not have a 1st or 2nd round pick in the coming draft. So what late round star is Belichick going to find this time around?

Round 2 – NO PICK

Round 3 – Pick 72: Ryan Anderson, Outside Linebacker from Alabama

The New England Patriots lost Jabaal Sheard this offseason to free agency and will be needing to find his replacement. Anderson has the size, speed, and strength to play both outside linebackers in a 3-4 and 4-3 defensive scheme. Playing him at an end in a 4-3 would increase his value. This is exactly the type of player that both Belichick and Patricia would love to have. Anderson has been overlooked by many but with his power and sound fundamentals, he would be a perfect fit in New England.

Round 3 – Pick 96: David Sharpe, Offensive Tackle from Florida

Sharpe is a very lengthy player that has good lower and upper body strength. He has huge potential but is in need of some coaching in order to be a more sound overall blocker. Isn’t a player you will see getting overpowered on bull rushes by opposing defenders. Adding someone like Sharpe gives the New England Patriots depth and someone who has great upside.

Round 4 – Pick 131: Corey Clement, Running Back from Wisconsin

The Patriots signed former Bengal Rex Burkhead to add more depth to their group of running backs. James White and Dion Lewis have shown to be consistent receiving threats out of the backfield. But they need someone they can rely on between the tackles. Clement’s combine numbers were not something spectacular or mind blowing. However, he is a consistent back with good size and great vision. During his senior season, he tallied 1,375 yards rushing and 15 touchdowns. The kid knows how to find the end zone and would do well for the New England Patriots offense.

Player Comparison: Deangelo Williams
