UCLA QB Brett Hundley Squares Off vs. Oregon QB Marcus Mariota In Heisman Showcase – In a highly-anticipated showdown between Heisman Trophy quarterbacks in Eugene, Brett Hundley and Marcus Mariota square off in a nationally-televised game as No.12 UCLA travels to Autzen to face the third-ranked Ducks.

Considered the front-runner for the 2013 Heisman Trophy, Mariota, a redshirt-sophomore has passed for 2,051 yards and 19 touchdowns and rushed for 493 yards and nine touchdowns on 49 carries.

Hundley, one of the emerging quarterbacks in the Heisman conversation has passed for 1,661 yards, thrown 13 touchdowns and tossed six interceptions. Hundley has also rushed for 287 yards on the ground and three touchdowns.

Based on the implications from this matchup, both quarterbacks can all but stamp their ticket to New York and national relevance—minus the East Coast bias.

Suns C Marcin Gortat Deal To Wizards For Emeka Okafor & 2014 Protected Pick. – In one of the first blockbuster moves in the NBA, Phoenix deal veteran center Marcin Gortat, guards Shannon Brown, Malcolm Lee and Kendall Marshall to the Washington Wizards for Emeka Okafor and a protected 2014 first-round pick (to No.12)

Gortat, 29, averaged 11,1 points and 8.5 rebounds for the Suns, now strengthens a Wizards frontcourt that includes Nene, Trevor Ariza, rookie Otto Porter Jr. and veteran Al Harrington to complement a talented and deadly backcourt of point guard John Wall and second-year sharpshooter Bradley Beal.

Lakers and Kobe Bryant In Contract Extension Talks – According to media reports, Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles lakers are in talks to extend Bryant’s stay in Los Angeles.  Bryant, a 15-time All-Star and five-time NBA champion is in the last year of his current deal that will pay him $30.5 million.

Currently recovering from Achilles surgery to his left tendon, Bryant and the Lakers have not set a return date for the 2013-14 season.

Bucs Head Coach Greg Schiano Done in Tampa? – After an inspired 31-13 team performance in a 31-13 loss to NFC South division rival, Carolina, Tampa Bay head coach Greg Schiano and his hot seat went from already scotching to blast furnace Thursday night.

Thanks to a team that has all but quit on their head coach, Tampa fans have been loudly calling for his ouster all season-long, that as well as many players vocally voicing their conerns over Schiano’s tough and heavy-handed Jersey mindset.

Since becoming head coach in Tampa in 2012, Schiano has a record of 7-16.
