Bulls PG Derrick Rose Suffers Torn Meniscus, Out Indefinitely : In news that Bulls fans have feared, 2011 NBA MVP, Derrick Rose will be out for an extended period of time. Rose, who scored 20 points in a 98-95 loss to the Portland Trail Blazers, suffered the injury on his right knee(not the one in which he tore his ACL) in the third quarter.
After an MRI confirmed it, reports stated that Rose will need immediate surgery and could miss a good portion of the season.
Georgia Southern Runs Over Gators in Swamp in 26-20 Upset : In one of the biggest upsets in recent college football history, the Georgia Southern Eagles, out of the FCS, shocked the un-ranked SEC powerhouse Florida gators, on the Swamp without passing for a single year.
The Eagles rushed for 429 yards on the ground, and all but silenced the normally loud Swamp and all but make the proverbial hot seat of head coach Will Muschamp ever hotter.
With the loss, Florida clinched its first losing season since 1979.
Yanks Ink C Brian McCann to Five-Year $85 Million Deal : After batting .256, belting 20 home runs and 57 RBI’s for the Atlanta Braves, free-agent catcher Brian McCann signed a five-year $85 million deal with the New York Yankees. A career .277 hitter, who has 176 career home runs, McCann’s deal has a club option for a sixth year, which would make the deal worth $100 million.
