JACKSONVILLE- Dez Bryant is still looking for a new team and a fresh beginning. The ex-Cowboys receiver may want to consider the Atlantic coast and play for the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Jaguars featured a prolific offense last season that was missed sorely. In fact, the Jaguars offense was missing in action since 2000. After the team drafted Leonard Fournette last year, the Jaguars featured balance in their starting offense. Most of the scoring was done without Allen Robinson. Signing Dez Bryant and perhaps drafting a receiver will be like a warning shot to the rest of the AFC South that the Jaguars are the king of the hill. According to USA Today, Jacksonville is currently the top destination for Bryant.

There might be some doubt about Bryant as he failed to eclipse the 900 yard mark the last three seasons. Fans should consider that he also missed a lot of games so his drop in production should be taken with a grain of salt. Bryant is due for a 1,000 yard season assuming he is healthy and ready to prove that he is still an elite receiver. He is clearly ready to show the Cowboys that releasing him was not a wise move.

Bryant’s catch in traffic ability is undeniable. The Jaguars need that kind of receiver again and they really don’t have a number one receiver on the roster right now. Marquise Lee and Donte Moncrief are really good but not necessarily elite.

The Jaguars also have good options in the draft should the team decide to proceed with younger talent. The draft features a few good, highly touted receivers and the Jaguars may be willing to do that instead. They team is already in the midst of building a young, dominant offense. Perhaps the trend of youth and athleticism will continue. However, having a veteran wide receiver could be the difference between advancing to the Divisional Round or making it all the way to the Super Bowl. The Jaguars were fifth in the NFL in points per game, averaging 26.1 in 2017.
