This tournament pits 20 of the best competitors separated in 2 blocks, “A” Block and “B” Block, from New Japan Pro Wrestling in a grueling round robin tournament over 19 events. A tournament win propels your career to new heights, just look at last year’s winner Kenny Omega. A win in a tournament match rewards you 2 points, a draw over the 30-minute time limit rewards you 1 point and a loss rewards you with 0 points. The wrestler with the most points from each bracket will face off in the final of the G1 Climax.
The winner of the G1 Climax will go on to main event Wrestle Kingdom and face off with the holder of the IWGP Heavyweight Championship.
