It is odd to think this, but we are almost done with the 2016 NFL Season. Week 14 begins tomorrow night with a very appealing Thursday Night Game between the Oakland Raiders and the Kansas City Chiefs. Both of these teams are in positions to make the playoffs as the Oakland Raiders have the one seed and the Chiefs have the fifth seed in the AFC.
However, this game has even more pressure because the Chiefs are only one game behind the Raiders for the AFC West and if they are to win on Thursday night, then they would be tied for first place.
Let us first look at the Oakland Raiders. They are coming into this game with a record of 10-2 and currently sit atop the AFC West and the AFC. They are also entering this game on a six-game winning streak, and surprisingly enough there last lost came at the hands of the Chiefs by the score of 26-10 back in Week 6.
One of the reasons why the Raiders didn’t do well in that game was that they got out rushed 183-64. No team in the National Football League will win a game if they are getting out rushed by more than one-hundred yards.
Another thing that the Raiders did in that game was that they turned the ball over twice, where one of the turnovers came from Quarterback David Carr. However, since that loss the Raiders have been getting better on the running game.
On the other side, you have the Kansas City Chiefs coming into this game with a record of 9-3. They currently have the 5th seed in the AFC, and if they can win Thursday night against the Raiders, then they could be tied for the one seed in the AFC.
Since they lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 4, the Chiefs have gone seven and one with their only loss coming a few weeks ago at the hands of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
There happens to be a lot riding on in this game for both teams. Watch for it to be a very close game with both the Raiders and the Chiefs giving it all on the field.
