Thanks to her portrayal of Rachel Posner, a Washington D.C. call-girl in Netflix’s critically-acclaimed political drama, House of Cards, Rachel Brosnahan, is a rising star.

According to the writer of the show, Beau Willimon, Brosnahan’s role was only for two episodes. Her performance made Willimon decide to keep her on board and said “she had done such a fine job those first two episodes that I started exploring what it would mean to bring her character back and fully three-dimensionalize her. Rachel was so fantastic when we brought her back that I just wanted to write for her more and more.

A 23-year old native of the Chicago suburb of Highland Park, Brosnahan’s roles include The Unborn, Beautiful Creatures and currently a spy handler, Jolene Parker, on NBC’s late-night drama, The Blacklist, opposite James Spader and Megan Boone, which have helped her steady rise to fame as one of the most promising young actresses to watch today.

The niece of Kate Spade is a 2012 graduate of New York University’s prestigious Tisch School of the Arts, the Milwaukee-born Brosnahan appears to be catching the eyes of Hollywood at just the right time. Also, made her Broadway debut in 2013 playing Dixie Evans in The Big Knife.

Currently slated to appear in the new ABC series, Black Box, starring Kelly Reilly (Flight, Sherlock Holmes) as Delilah and set to reprise her role in the upcoming third season of House of Cards, Brosnahan is here to stay.
