The Philadelphia Eagles are currently at 52 players on the active roster after they cut Josh Huff last week. It was widely assumed that the Eagles would make a roster move before last Sunday but they did not. The Eagles roster still sits at 52.

There are ten players on the practice squad eligible for promotion to the active roster. Yesterday, Wednesday morning, during a press conference, coach Doug Pederson told the press that he liked Paul Turner and Aaron Grymes to fill the last active roster spot. But neither have been promoted as of yet.

Aaron Grymes as some of you might remember was a CFL standout who did quite well for the Eagles until he injured his shoulder making an interception in the end zone during pre-season. Grymes was subsequently waived with an injury settlement.

Grymes was recently signed to the practice squad after cornerback Ron Brooks was lost for the season due to injury.

Grymes is a physical, explosive corner who may see some time in the nickel formation which would free up Jalen Mills to play outside. Replacing Leodis McKelvin who struggled drastically against the Giants offense.

Paul Turner is the pre-season wide receiver stand out who Eagles fans clamored over for weeks. Turner originally made the 53 roster until he was bumped to the practice squad in favor of Bryce Treggs. Treggs, who was finally activated last Sunday had 69 yards on two catches.

Maybe the Eagles see how much potential they have in Treggs and want to see if Turner has the same spark. Turner is much slower than Treggs, but he is an excellent route runner and possesses a sure pair of hands.

The Eagles could definitely use a pair of sure hands catching the ball.

Before Huff was waived, Pederson said he had previously planned on starting 5 wide receivers if Turner is made active. The Eagles can still have five receivers on game day, just not the five he originally thought.

Nelson Agholor has been very underwhelming and Pederson as said he expects a larger role for Treggs moving forward. Maybe Turner can get a chance to prove himself as well.
