Thanks to the acquisition of new head coach Doc Rivers, All-Star point guard Chris Paul will be staying in Tinseltown.

According to ESPN’s Chris Broussard, representatives of Paul have informed teams to not bother pursuing him when free agency begins on Monday.

Paul who averaged 16.9 points, 9.7 assists and 2.4 steals in leading the Los Angeles Clippers to their first-ever Pacific Division title, was rumored to be heading east to team up with soon-to-be ex Los Angeles Lakers center Dwight Howard’s hometown Atlanta Hawks.

With Paul back in the fold, the Clippers can now concentrate on learning Rivers’ new defensive minded system without worrying about the distraction of Paul leaving.
