The Frisco RoughRiders, Double-A affiliate to the Texas Rangers, went into extra innings last night. The club got out to an early lead, but it wasn’t enough. When it was all said and done, the RoughRiders fell to the Drillers in 10 innings. With a final result of 7-6, Frisco starts the three-game series behind.

The RoughRiders drew first blood, scoring a run in the first. So far this season, the club has scored 11 runs in the first inning. That’s the most of any inning. The Drillers answered back quickly, jumping ahead of the RoughRiders in the second, 2-1. In the second inning, Michael DeLeon launched a rocket over the right field wall. His home run was good for three runs, and put Frisco ahead 4-2.

Scott Heineman added to his streak, with an RBI double in the fourth frame. It put the RoughRiders ahead, 6-2. Heineman has now hit or gotten on base in nine-straight outings. Tulsa managed to chip away with runs in the fifth, sixth, and seventh innings. The Drillers ended up tying the game in the bottom of the ninth. In the extra innings, Tulsa center-fielder Tim Locastro had an RBI double to give the Drillers the edge.

The first four runs from Tulsa came on longballs. This was the first game that the RoughRiders have allowed three homeruns. Starting pitcher Collin Wiles had a good performance. Over his 5.0 innings, he allowed six hits and three earned runs. He fanned five and walked one.

The RoughRiders went through four bullpen arms after Wiles. Sam Wolff pitched 1.1 innings, with one earned run. Nick Gardewine and Adam Loewen each pitched a single inning. They both had one earned run. Shane McCain pitched one inning with no earned runs. While the stats seem okay, the RoughRiders offense just couldn’t provide late-game run support.

The RoughRiders will send Connor Sadzeck to the hill for game two. He will enter the matchup at 0-1, with a 7.20 ERA. Sadzeck will face-off against Drillers pitcher Scott Barlow, who stands at 0-1 and carries a 4.70 ERA.

The first pitch will take place tonight, at 7:05 PM CT. The action is in Tulsa, at ONEOK Field.
